WGHS Ceramics Team Wins at Feats of Clay Competition

On Friday, May 5 WGHS students competed in the the Feats of Clay competition held at OCC. ‘Clay Boss" Mikayla Mango, the support team, and event participants led West Genesee ceramic students to victory at Mrs. Schrader's last "Feats of Clay Olympics". Joshua Pierce was voted MVP "Most Valuable Potter" by his peers.

Central New York's Feats of Clay was established in 1987 as a means to foster education of the ceramic arts for Syracuse area high schools. Feats of Clay has grown to include schools from Watertown and the north country to Binghamton and the southern tier as well.

In addition to the high school competition, Feats of Clay has grown to now include a juried high school student exhibition that recognizes students that demonstrate excellence in the area of ceramics.

Emily Conklin won the IPA Wheel Throwing Award for her ceramic artwork entitled "3 Marbled Mugs at the Feats of Clay Art Exhibition.

The Support Team included Sarah Adams, Logan Battaglia, Kendra Blake, Anthony Bottari, Samantha Bowles, Amanda Cooper, Erin Fortune, Peyton Long, Claire Petty, Lauren Petty, and Eden Phillips.
